A related party, said plainly

ENGIA Green is owned by NEXT Energy, and every plant currently under its management is owned by a NEXT Energy subsidiary. There is no useful way to present that as anything other than what it is, so the site says it on every page.

The arrangement exists because NEXT Energy needed construction capability it could staff, direct and hold to a programme — rather than buy in project by project, losing the learning from each plant when the consultant demobilised. Udabno is the first plant through that system; Iliatsminda and the two Terjola plants are where it either proves itself or does not.

For a lender or a co-investor. A related-party construction manager certifying payments to a third-party EPC contractor is a governance question worth asking about, and we would rather you asked it early. The answer on Udabno and Iliatsminda is that the builder — THE OHM Georgia — is independent of both ENGIA Green and NEXT Energy, so the certification is not circular. Where that is not the case on a future project, it will be disclosed.

Today, no. Every mandate is intra-group, and it would be misleading to present a captive contractor as an open-market consultancy.

That changes with Udabno. Once a plant is energised, commissioned and performing against its yield study, there is a track record to point at rather than a claim to make — and construction management for Georgian and regional renewables is a market with real demand from owners who need somebody on their side of the fence for exactly the reasons set out on this site.

If you are an owner or a lender looking at a Georgian project and want to talk before that point, we would rather have the conversation early and honestly than oversell what exists now.
